The Library has two Sir Walter Raleigh competitions running until 31st May as part of the Raleigh 400 commemorations/celebrations.
There is a drawing competition for children, split into 3 age groups, and with prizes for each group winner of a £10 book token and some arts and crafts supplies, kindly donated by Tesco, Exmouth. The drawing should be of Sir Walter Raleigh, famous Elizabethan, explorer, writer, courtier, son of Devon and, possibly, a spy.
The poetry competition is aimed at the adults but is open to anyone age 11 plus. Sir Walter Raleigh was a noted writer and poet so we want our entrants to write a poem, sonnet or haiku with a “Raleigh” theme. Let your imagination run riot!
